IRRI welcomes PhilRice Executive Director Dr. Calixto Protacio on CURE activities and plans

Dr. Calixto Protacio, the newly installed Executive Director of the Philippine Rice Research Institute was warmly welcomed by CURE scientists and staff, including DDG-CP Bruce Tolentino last January 4, 2016.

Dr. Protacio was accompanied by PhilRice scientists Drs. Marissa Romero, Nenita Desamero, Aurora Corales and Alice Mataia, who likewise discussed with the CURE team details on the upcoming 15th CURE Meeting to be held on May 23-27, 2016. The group also arrived at major points concerning the coverage of the Heirloom Rice Project Phase 2 proposal, together with Project heads Digna Manzanilla and Nollie Vera Cruz.

Drs. Rakesh Kumar Singh and Yoichiro Kato from PBGB and CESD also presented updates on IRRI programs and priorities for salinity, submergence rice ecosystems.
